UFQ #2 Angels Among Us - Revisited and Revisited....and......

There are days when I look at a quilt and wonder where in the world did the quilter's brain go.  Oh wait, "Quilter's Brain" ????  I would settle for a brain that works 50% of the time.

At any rate, looking at this particular UFQ (insert grimace) .....

First there was....




And the problem?  Why - simply, I ran out of green, red and blue fabric for the sashing.  Arrrghhhh.  Mad woman going through her stash with a vengeance.  

And so then I traveled to......


And then there was.....

 And then there was - oh snap, I don't have a selfie  - me, pulling out my hair.....while at the same time, hair is in flames.  It happens.

Deep breath....thinking "riding on horse 75 miles an hour and passing by a quilt" (quilters - you know what I mean).....and finally....


I am done - for now.   There are borders to be added. 

These angels are slowly becoming quite exasperating.

New project, you ask?  Oh yes, new project. Word got out that I "sew" a bit....and was asked a few weeks ago if I knew anyone who would be interested in a treadle machine.  Treadle?  Did you say "treadle" ???  Stopping short of a minor heart attack, I managed a squeaky "I do - and it's ME".  Gifted!  I was warned it's in bad shape ...but who cares!  I have a treadle machine!  Yes, it is in parts for easier transport.  Yes, it is rough.   The desk portion on its back.....with the wheel of the treadle peeking behind it.   And then there's the mystery accessories in the drawers.  And the treadle part itself - taking a nap.   Oh - the machine???? A Day in the Life....

Retirement surely does have its benefits....like grandson age 3 1/2 who spent today watching grandma. While this isn't an unusual occurrence , each day he spends with me is so very special. We've explored Boonshoft Museum of Discovery (great place for kids!), we've spent time at every McDonalds that has an indoor playground, we've taken walks and we've blown bubbles in the wind. Each day is different - each day becomes my favorite day. Today was no exception. We walked to McDonalds and stopped various times to pick the tiniest of flowers, watch an ant crawl across the sidewalk and counted the big rocks we saw. After getting our meals, we found a place in the playground area. Grandson would bite off a bit of the chicken nuggets, swallow & then run off to the play area. After thirty minutes plus, I issued the ultimate warning - three more times he could go back to the play area. I was prepared for tears and protests when the third time would arrive. Th...

A Picnic with Grandson

On the 16th of June, a pre-Father's Day picnic was thoroughly enjoyed by myself, dear husband, my sister, dear son and his son. Three generations of men - but for me, the attention was focused shamelessly on our grandson. We held the picnic at Riverscape - a beautifully landscaped area next to the Miami River (not the most picturesque river - but it is moving water and it does hold a strange fascination for ducks). One of Riverscape's attractions is a unique "square" of shooting fountains - perhaps twelve of them. At times, all twelve fountains shoot straight up - and then one by one, turn off - and then they come back again, one at a time - or two. You just don't figure it out - you just merely hope you can run through it when it's dormant. Grandson managed to do it once and claimed victory by jumping up and down with his hands raised.
