#56 of the Great Year Challenge....
Finally - a chance to attack tackle #56 project, aka Pretty in Pink Flowers. If you have a better name, by all means let me know. Obviously pink is not one of my favorite colors.
To recap, this is the EQ7 drawing....
And this is what I accomplished today....
Thank you AccuQuilt. That 2 1/2" strip die is to .... well, die for? Okay, could not resist.
Silently, I have a 20 minute daily challenge...anything Quilty. Does setting up a huge ironing board (you know the kind - BIG...), ironing the fabric and then cutting? Of course it does. That big ole ironing board was a great buy - when I had the room for it. Now it languishes in a closet....where I wrestle with it for about 10 hours to get it set up for 15 minutes worth of ironing. Is it worth it? Absolutely not. But at this moment, hubby won't consider knocking the wall out between the SQS (that's Sharon's Quilting Studio) and the Exercise Room (no, we don't label it ER - but come to think of it, once I start to use it....). It's just one wall, for pete's sake.
So why has this project laid on my cutting board for - ahem - awhile?
Because.
A trip to Oshkosh (483 miles one way - just in case you were wondering) took place Sunday after service along with one stop to wish our friends a Happy 50th Anniversary (50!). Drove about 4 hours, stopped at a hotel and crashed for the night. I won't even begin to describe the hotel that was chosen. Never. Again. I am just waiting for the opportunity to review the hotel.
Next morning, drove the remainder of the distance. Mission: Convince my mom to please move to Dayton. 87 years old and lives alone in a retirement community. Dad died about 7 years ago and within weeks, moved to a retirement community. Sister & her husband had driven to Oshkosh 2 days earlier. Ammunition? But of course. Long story short - she has agreed to sell her condo & move to Dayton. We WILL find her a nice apartment in a retirement community that also accommodates assisted living (should it be needed) and Memory Care (again, should it be needed). Target move: by end of October. Me thinks we will be a bit busy. We would love to have her move in with us. So would BIL and sister. However, she wants to live independently and that will be honored.
So that's my very well founded explanation as to why #56 has been languishing on top of my cutting table.
However, I have to remember...the Great Challenge is not a race. No set goal to accomplish X# of projects. Just. Move. Forward.
Let's see what tomorrow brings!
Sharon
